It has been a wonderful week at St Swithuns' School in Winchester. I have worked with year 7 who have been an absolutely delightful, hard working, talented group of girls. The week has been spent introducing traditional Indian Rangoli designs alternating with African Kente work. The girls were asked to think about composition, colour palettes, scale, motifs and imagery. In keeping with the respective culture, they used drawing and hand cut paper to create their own individual designs. The second session involved working in teams to create large scale collaborative pieces, either a rangoli or kente banner.
