one of my finest creations, that's grace, and not the outfit!!

another gorgeous creation. 'salvador' aged 6 months.

and finally aswell as trying, really really am, to create new artwork, I've been doing some homework. new wall colours, ' pigeon' by farrow and ball. finding, painting an abandoned lampstand along with cutting, gluing fabric to bobbles onto my most recent aquisition, a granny shade.

following on from the revelations that are to be had from the world of computing graphics to an altogether different beast. that's me and my family in the Christmas edition of 'ideal home' magazine. scary!! this was an honest attempt at some free publicity for my work, but has turned into more of a location, location, location kinda thing. hopefully someone will think my nest looks OK and want to buy bespoke artwork? there is one tiny photo of one of my papercuts in the main bedroom above the bed.

it's been a while and i've been busy with the library work, the carpet has been agreed and samples have arrived which are really unexpected, in a very good way. it's wonderful to see all the children's and my work actually translated onto a real carpet, that's going be used and looked out. I am now working on the wall/window designs and have come up with a theme that I am happy with. now need to do technical stuff to get into a print ready format, this week should crack it......

in the meantime it was a very hot weekend here, we spent it sitting in cafes, gardening and carbooting, which was a total success as we spied some great loot. here are some of our treasures.

I digress.....after country living photo shoot the team came round to mine...here are some of the results, my work in the kitchen and some shots of the playroom with direct 'artwork' on walls

in the meantime lots of other things have and are happening. most of it accidentally. a friend who runs her own business www.vintageparty.com and lives in an amazing house just outside winchester, asked if she could borrow some of my work for a photo shoot, which is going to appear in 'Country Living' magazine, how fabulous is that......

her house is so amazing that she's been known to let other designer/artist friends use it as a setting for their work, for example the amazing claire vine who operates under the name of elsy & vine. both claire and amazing house are below, in action!. Both these ladies will be appearing at the selvedge summer fete on june the 26th.

then we went to the beach

the next day she saw some shoes in a charity shop, silver leather with diamante clasps, they were size 3, she's 8 years old, I am size 5 and much older.... they had my name on but i couldn't squeeze them on so they're hers, not fair

ruby made a box in twenty minutes which is my favourite thing and sits on the bedside table.

have had some brilliant news this week, I am almost too scared to mention in case it all goes kaput!! things lurch from bad (noro virus with a very sick mum last weekend) to exceedingly good.

I've had some photographs taken of the house with a view to getting some press coverage in the glossies for my papercuts, sold my piece 'dwell' in the discovery centre, was told 'memento' is staying up in Winchester cathedral for the BBC filming of 'songs of praise' and got shortlisted for a children's' library commission in Hampshire. holy moly. How ace is that?

For the commission I have to come up with design concepts for floor, walls and textiles. Before the research started in earnest we marked the occasion by eating 'rubycake'......a stupendous cake made entirely by her followed by her maiden voyage out to the shop on her own to buy a pint (of milk, she is only 8).

got a bit carried away with the whole biscuit making thing, but just can't help myself! only ate half my body weight.

21.1.09

today was a thoroughly wonderful day, the sun was out, it was frosty, i made 'bits and bobs' in the peace and quiet of the kitchen as my husband irreverently calls my artwork, whilst eating homemade croissants.............ok yeah, too much, tesco's best, but it was lush.

31.12.08
